Voting Question: My stock analysis for school club application.?

Apple, Inc. – AAPL Rating:BUY After investigating the financial data and news articles for Apple, Inc. at Yahoo! Finance and Google Finance, it is in my best judgment that the Golden Griffin Fund invest in Apple if they are seeking a long-term and safe stock. I have based my decision on positive-growth trends, innovation of Apple products, an ROE of 26% as of September 2009, and the fact that Apple has no long-term debt or capital lease obligations listed on its balance sheet. Apple has seen positive stock price growth for the past five years. The trend line for Apples stock in monthly intervals from March 2005 to February 2010 is y = 2.3367x + 39.108. In each one-year period, Apple has had positive-growth except for 2008-2009, which is the period the market crashed. Since then, Apple has recovered to where it was before, and then gained. Apple is a large cap stock, and should be relatively stable during market fluctuations. Apple sold 3.36M Macintosh computers during the most recent quarter, which is up 33% from the same quarter last year. The iPhone also has seen a massive 100% increase in sales from the same quarter last year. Apples deal with AT&T is hurting iPhone sales because of AT&Ts poor network performance, and if Apple decides not to renew the contract, iPhone sales should skyrocket to levels unseen thus far. As with any investment, there are risks. It is important to note that Nokia named Apple in a lawsuit for copyright infringement. Nokia claims that Apple has illegally used their patented technology in Apples mobile devices. It is also important to note that the departure of Steve Jobs could potentially ruin Apple. These items, in addition to Apples competitors Microsoft, Google, Nokia, Dell, HP, etc, should be monitored closely. Looking for your opinion on how I did. Ah, I should have mentioned I have to keep it condensed to one page haha. If I was going to write a full blown prospectus I would have far more information.

Voting Question: How does one become a self-employed independent stock analyst?

I am interested in becoming an independent stock analyst. I wish to be self employed in this task and work out of my home or a small office. I searched the Internet and could only find firms that provide stock analysis. I want to be one of those people who are hired by banks or investment firms to conduct a study on a particular company or segment of the market. I am specifically interested in whether these people actually exist and if so, what is the median cost of the analysis reports they usually generate. Like I said above, I searched the Internet looking for small shops that provide this service, but I am now wondering if these people actually exist.

Resolved Question: Is it my fault a work Excel file is now corrupt?

I haven't long been in my current job and never used Excel before it but have had to learn the basics. Each week print outs of Jewellery stock (I work for a reasonably large jewellers) have to be done, and last week I had to this as my boss was away. I have to paste current information from other files over stock reports including current stock, out of stock, automated orders etc. Later in the week I tried to reopen the Excel file and it said the file had unreadable data and the file was corrupt. I also did the same for a watch stock analysis which was fine. Can anyone tell me if I'm responsible for this? No one else would've accessed the files If I have to fight my corner I'd rather have a good idea of what I'm talking about! Thanks William K, my boss programmed the file so I'm hoping there will be something he can do, the only problem will be that we will have lost a week's information. He's back tomorrow so I've had a pretty uncomfortable weekend but hopefully they'll be able to see that it is just a mistake like you said, and I never claimed to know anything about Excel in the first place! Thank you very much for offering to look at the file, I don't have access to it outside work and stupidly didn't back it up, as I never had done when learning how to do it. Fingers crossed for tomorrow! Hi aresee, thanks for your answer. Some of the information I have to paste into one tab of the file is an Excel file, taken from a Bransom program. The other information is taken from the company website, concerning stock and sales and comes in CSV format, which I don't really have any knowledge of either. My job description is web development assistant, which is what I applied for and have ended up using Excel and Esposure so haven't seen a hint of design or development.

Resolved Question: what are the best financial advice websites available? Also free stock analysis software to use for charting?

Knowing that this market is difficult to judge for long-term investing, I have been researching methods for playing the market on the weekly swings we have been seeing. I have seen many of the financial charting paid services out there (which I might consider based on others opinions), but are there any free (open source-type) software people have been using? (I am partly interested in this because I feel I have been duped by paid so-called financial advisors) Give me our ideas since we got to work together on this-right?

Resolved Question: What is a good career plan if i like math, stocks and i have a investigative characteristics?

Hi, i need advice on what pathway I should choose to become successful. i like math, finance(stocks), and i very much enjoy asking questions and i am detail oriented. I do not like Accounting but i have heard that people with CA's can work in various fields because they understand business the most and are qualified for other jobs, not relating to accounting field. So i am willing to torture myself for that small time before i obtain my CA. my choices were : to become a CA then go and obtain a CFA or to go Actuary science pathway. then maybe CFA Or to get a CFA or a CA or Actuary individually, without obtaining further education. university choices are not my concern at this time but my main concern is the fastest pathway, which will lead me to a successful career in Dubai with something i like and matches my interests.(math, stocks, analysis and asking questions). I was also considering Forensic accounting. Thank you for your time :)

Voting Question: I'm trying to get into equity analysis in the next few years. I've already passed Level I of the CFA test.

My background isn't really in the stock market, and I am going to try to make a portfolio of some sorts of my own stock analysis. The purpose is so that when I do land an interview with someone in the next year or two, I can show my work off. However, what do you think I should include? Should I include articles I've read on companies with my own scribbles in the margins, or should I just start keeping a one-page summary of companies I am following and skip including other people's work- maybe just quoting, or what? I'm not sure what people in this field show their bosses when recommending stocks, or telling them not to buy. Please help. Thanks.

Resolved Question: What language to write this script in?

Currently I'm familiar PHP/HTML. I'm doing some stock analysis and its getting tiresome to do it manually. So I want to write a script but don't know what language to do it so I need a push in the right direction so I can orient myself. Basically I'm checking to see if the company has growth and I want the script to do something like this. If the top number is greater than the number below it, i want it to flag it and print out the stock symbol. But in order to do this, the script would have to be able to read off the webpage somehow, im assuming. But I dont know if php can do that or if another language is better suited. Any ideas? Example below is what would be most favorable as shown in page source. Income After Tax 3.08 2.86 2.27 1.31

Resolved Question: Stolen Property at Disneyland?

I'm currently a CM at Disneyland Resort, recently hired in about a month ago. It shouldn't be too hard to guess which location I work in mmm. So this Monday (2/25), I showed up for work and changed into my Uniform. I put my personal clothes into my Back Pack and into a Locker outside of the Men's Changing Room. Disneyland issues us company Combination Locks to put on the Lockers, which I did. Made sure it was locked also. After I came back from my shift, I found my lock opened and the contents of the locker I had chosen empty. Someone had broke into the locker and stole my back pack. I'm a full time student so I show up to work right after I get out of school. I had at least $400 worth inside my backpack at the time. - iPod Nano ($200) - Graphing Calculator ($100) - Audio-Technica Headphones ($100) - Personal Clothes ($60) - Books for class ($60) - My Binder Full of Essays, Hand-Outs, and Notes I had taken All Semester (Can't really put a price on that) I contacted Disneyland Security, Anaheim Police Dept, Guest Services and Lost & Found. So far they all summed up theres nothing they can do for me but "investigate". My chances of seeing my belongs again feel very hopeless. The cost of me replacing all of this stuff is my entire paycheck for the whole month. All those hours I worked trying to save money before I go to college. I'm 17 and Senior in High School. The hardest part about dealing with this situation is knowing I probably will never get my binder back. : / Inside it was pretty much my entire High School portfolio: Critiqued Essays, Music Theory Notes, and Econ Stock Analysis. My Employee Manual says Disneyland Resort is not responsible for CM Theft, but I was thinking that since it was a Company Issued Lock, the Company is at fault for my loss? I understand if I had left it lying around, it was just asking to be stolen, but I had placed my back pack in the designated area with the mandatory company lock that had given me. - So should I ask them to reimburse me ?(I really don't want to spend this months entire paycheck : /) - And If Disneyland refused to reimburse me, Should I/Can I take legal action? - Will taking legal action be worth it? I hear legal fees would be expensive Sorry If this was a bit long to read, Thank you for your time. **No the Lock was not cut off. It was simply open hanging from the locker door.**
